Position Overview

Goldman Copeland is currently seeking an experienced and professional Senior Project Manager to join their team. In this role, the Senior Project Manager will oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to scope, and budget compliance. This individual will collaborate closely with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to maintain the highest level of quality and ensure customer satisfaction, particularly in projects with heavy architecture requirements.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of projects, including gross margin management, safety, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will engage with project delivery resources, ensuring the deployment of the most suitable team members to projects. The ideal candidate will lead project management efforts, including strategy development and execution, as well as actively managing project teams to ensure successful outcomes. In addition, the Senior Project Manager will provide guidance and mentorship to a team of 12+ technical staff, including Project Engineers, Project Engineering Managers, Commercial Managers, Construction Managers, and Project Managers.

Role & Responsibilities


  • Formulate project plans, encompassing timelines, resource allocation, and proactive risk mitigation strategies, particularly for complex architectural projects.
  • Lead architecture and engineering projects, from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Maintain a firm commitment to safety behaviors and protocols that lead to an incident and injury free project site.
  • Support Business Development and Marketing Departments to secure new work for the business unit.
  • Develop high-performance teams through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop and maintain long-lasting relationships with customers, the design community, and subcontractors to enhance future business development opportunities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements on all projects.
  • Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee, and pricing decisions.
  • Oversee the development and management of project schedules, budgets, execution plans and manage their implementation.
  • Provide project budget and financial management.
  • Oversee the administration of project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs.

Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Master’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or Financial Management (MBA) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in design project management with at least 5 years in construction.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred.
  • Profound understanding of architectural projects and industry-specific processes.
  • Experience with integrated project management systems, including LEAN Construction, Supply Chain Management, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and new and evolving construction technologies.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technically complex contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Skilled at negotiating and developing relationships with owners and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior management, clients, and project teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The Senior Project Manager must possess the analytical skills to drive costs from the business, improve overall productivity and elevate the clinical research division’s processes as points of differentiation in the marketplace.

The new Senior Project Manager must be performance-driven and able to provide measurable results. The successful candidate will be resourceful, action-oriented, and possess a proactive sense of urgency and the ability to overcome obstacles to produce results in a timely fashion. They will be comfortable working in a matrix organization and leading project teams to achieve results.

This individual should possess strong communication, listening, and persuasion skills, truly partnering with the executive team. The Senior Project Manager should be comfortable, articulate, and dynamic in front of both external and internal audiences including employees and customers. This individual will have a demonstrated ability to influence and build consensus among teams. They will be direct, candid and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
